| Measures such as handwashing and social distancing need to be followed to limit the COVID-19 spread. |
The current coronavirus pandemic which has been spread across the world has infected more than 1.4 million people and has caused more than 88,000 deaths, as of April 9, 2020. The virus has been identified mostly in US, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, China, but spread of this outbreak to other countries are likely. Even, World Health Organisation (WHO) has stated that there is likelihood of coronavirus infections and deaths to rise in coming days.
Keeping this in mind, we have decided to include some measures we can follow to protect ourselves from getting infected.
1. Wash your hands with soap and water with complete hand washing technique for atleast 20 seconds. Use a sanitizer gel if hand washing is not possible.
2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
3. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then, throw the tissue in a bin and wash your hands with soap and water. If you do not have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your elbow rather than your hands.
4. Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
5. Wear face masks, preferably N95 masks.
6. Seek early medical help if you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing.
7. If you are visiting live markets in affected areas, avoid direct, unprotected contact with live animals, and surfaces that have been in contact with animals.
8. If you have returned from an affected area in the last two weeks, stay indoors and avoid contact with other people for 14 days.
9. If you have returned from an infected area and develop a high temperature, cough, runny nose, sore throat or difficulty breathing do not leave your home until you have been given advice by a doctor.
